FOX Float X2 Factory Trunnion shock
Thanks to an all-new chassis and internal structure for 2026, the FLOAT X2 is the world's first monotube mountain bike shock that is adjustable in all four planes. The transition to monotube further increases durability and also allows for full pressure balance for a wider usable range. The unparalleled four-way adjustability of the FLOAT X2 shock remains, making it the definitive gravity air shock optimized for downhill and enduro racing.
One of the design goals of the new FLOAT X2 shock was to eliminate the performance gap with the GRIP X2 coil-based damping, which was launched in 2024. Racers and riders loved the increased traction and damping support of GRIP X2 and reduced fatigue. The larger base valve and more individual valves in the FLOAT X2 shock - combined with pressure-balanced settings - mean the shock now performs at the same level as GRIP X2 damping with perfect grip, more control, and a more comfortable ride.
Pressure balance was necessary to meet the goal of achieving the same performance as GRIP X2 damping. Thanks to greater control over the shock's rebound stroke, the rear tire behaves more predictably, leading to greater rider confidence. The twin-tube architecture of the previous FLOAT X2 shock did not meet the requirements for pressure balance, so we switched to a monotube construction. This also gave us the opportunity to increase the main shaft diameter from 3/8" (9.5 mm) to 1“ (12.7 mm) for even greater strength and durability. However, the transition to monotube preserved the 4-way adjustability, making it a challenge.
Four-way adjustment gives riders and racers an advantage when fractions of a second count. Now, the FLOAT X2 and DHX2 models offer this unparalleled tuning range in the world's first 4-way adjustable monotube shock.
