This jacket does three things very well: the Tempesta Stretch fabric provides complete waterproof protection, its four-way stretch makes it fit almost any body type ideally, and it looks great on and off the bike. Compared to more expensive Idro jackets from GORE-TEX®, you give up best-in-class breathability and extreme packability, but you gain comfortable wear thanks to the stretch and increased durability.
The fabric was developed at Castelli, to our own specifications, to create a jacket that is completely waterproof, comfortably stretchy, packable enough to fit in a jersey pocket, and designed to look great. It was primarily intended as a rain jacket to be worn over a jersey, so we omitted external pockets and kept the construction simple to minimize the number of seams. We added back vents to prevent overheating, a zipper flap to prevent splashing from getting inside, and reflective detailing for your safety.
