WARNING
- Do not disassemble or modify the product. It may cause the product to not operate correctly, and you may fall unexpectedly and be seriously injured.
- Before you attempt to ride with these pedals and cleats (on shoes), make sure you understand the operation of the engagement/release mechanism for the pedals and cleats (on shoes). SPD-SL pedals are designed to release only when you intend to release. They are not designed to release automatically in a crash.
- Only use SPD-SL shoes together with this product. Other types of shoes may not release from the pedals, or may release unexpectedly.
- Only use SHIMANO cleats and securely tighten the mounting bolts to the shoes. If the bolts are not securely tightened, your foot may not be able to release from the pedals, or may release unexpectedly, causing you to fall.
- Before you attempt to ride with these pedals and cleats, apply the brakes, then place one foot on the ground and practice engaging and releasing each cleat from the pedal until you can do so instinctively and with minimal effort.
- Practice riding on a level surface first until you become adept at engaging and releasing your cleats from the pedals.
- Be sure to adjust the cleat retention force on the pedals to your liking before riding. If the cleat retention force on the pedals is weak, the cleats may release accidentally, possibly causing you to lose your balance and fall off the bicycle. If the cleat retention force on the pedals is strong, the cleats may not release easily.
- At low speeds or when there is a possibility that you may need to stop (for example, when making a U-turn, at intersections, when riding uphill or when cornering sharply), release the cleats from the pedals beforehand so that you can quickly put your feet on the ground at any time.
- When riding in adverse conditions, use a lighter cleat retention force to attach the pedal cleats.
- Keep cleats and binding clean of dirt and debris to ensure proper engagement and release.
- Be sure to periodically inspect the cleats for wear. When the cleats are worn, replace the cleats and adjust the cleat retention force before riding and after replacing the pedal cleats. If the above warnings are not followed, your shoes may not come out of the pedals when you want them to, or they may come out unexpectedly or accidentally, which could result in a serious injury.
-If the reflectors are dirty or damaged, do not continue riding the bicycle. Otherwise, it may be difficult for oncoming vehicles to notice you.
