THE FIRST AERO JERSEY PROJECT BECAME A NAME, A SECOND FRACTION
When we created the first aero jersey for road racing in Castelli in 2006, everyone thought we were crazy. At that time, aero was only used in triathlon. At that time, professional clothing only meant moisture management. You can win the Tour de France with a jersey that is a little more than a polyester t-shirt. Since our aerodynamic consultants expected small gains in speed, we named our jersey "Fraction of a Second", but we still thought it was worth continuing. In the end, the gains were quite substantial, and we started a revolution in dressing pro peloton.
We are now on the sixth major revision of our jersey. Each generation has become more airy and with a better cut. Aero Race 6.0 significantly benefited from aero CFD analysis regarding the placement of fabrics and seams in the riding position. The riders of the Ineos team bring the same feedback, as we worked to make the jersey comfortable throughout the training and during the race in all possible weather. This jersey is our most aero and the most comfortable jersey so far. But we are already working on its innovation.
