If you look closely, the Perfetto RoS 2 is essentially the long-sleeve version of the Gabba RoS 2. So is it just a warmer Gabba? Not quite. The long sleeves make it a jacket that covers a wide range of conditions. Like the Gabba, the RoS designation means it excels in dry conditions thanks to its high breathability, as well as in wet conditions thanks to Castelli's exclusive GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ WINDSTOPPER® fabrics. On the front, it uses a fabric with a light fleece inside and water resistance on the surface, while a lighter and stretchier fabric is used on the back. This maximizes breathability and comfort while providing excellent water repellency.
The Perfetto RoS 2 Jacket keeps all the cold wind out while being far more breathable than the typical polyurethane membranes used in most jackets trying to compete with the Perfetto. Since you stay drier, you don't need as many layers underneath. The beauty of this jacket is that it has no insulation itself, so a thin base layer is just right for mild conditions, while adding an insulating layer (a warm jersey or Castelli Alpha 2nd Layer) will take you down to below freezing. You decide.
The "2" in the name refers to the updates in the latest version, including a YKK® Vislon® two-way zipper for even better adjustable ventilation. The reflective elements on the back are more visible, the seam at the top of the shoulder has been moved to the back, and the three pockets hold more items. The Perfetto remains performance-oriented, but the new model feels roomier across the chest, shoulders, and biceps.
