This jacket exemplifies how a winter cycling jacket should look.Even the best currently available materials with a good level of breathability cannot cope with the sweat and heat generated during high-intensity riding. That's why we developed a double-layer construction that allows the outer, windproof layer to be unzipped while the inner insulating layer remains zipped – thanks to airflow, moisture can escape and the outer layer does not come into direct contact with the skin. When climbing, you can completely unzip the outer layer and vent moisture, and before descending, you zip it up and stay completely dry inside. It works so well, it feels like magic.
For this generation, we used softer and warmer insulating material - Polartec® Alpha Direct. We also made a few changes to the jacket's finishes: the neck, waist, and especially the wrists. The neck has been lengthened and shaped to move with you, whether you're pedaling standing up or catching up with friends on a joint January training ride. At the waist, we created a stretch panel with a flat silicone hem that fits perfectly and insulates from the wind without rolling up or sliding upwards. We updated the wrist closure – it has an inner layer that fits snugly to the wrist and goes into the glove, and an outer layer that goes over the glove from the outside, so water runs off onto the road and not into the glove.
This jacket will also perform in wet conditions, we used GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ WINDSTOPPER® with waterproof taping on critical seams on the shoulders. Other seams are hidden from direct water contact, and the fabric's water-repellent treatment keeps most moisture out. The jacket is, as we say, "essentially waterproof," to the maximum extent while maintaining a balance between water protection, breathability, and comfort. We're not saying not a drop will get in, but we regularly do long rides in rainy weather and stay completely dry. Thanks to these features, it's a favorite jacket of most of our ambassadors and employees, and it's the most versatile winter jacket we've ever made.
