Used bike stems are a key component for setting the optimal handlebar reach, cockpit height, and precise front wheel control. In the used market, you'll find ultralight and extremely strong stems from iconic brands like Renthal (Apex), Hope, Thomson (Elite X4), Deity, Race Face, Zipp, and PRO.
What to consider when choosing a used stem:

• Handlebar clamp diameter: Traditional standard 31.8 mm versus modern stiff oversize 35 mm; before buying, check the diameter of your handlebars at the clamping point.
• Stem length: Short enduro/trail stems (30 – 50 mm) provide immediate and sensitive steering response; longer road and XC stems (70 – 110 mm) extend the riding position for better aerodynamics.
• Angle of inclination (Rise): Zero rise (0°), moderate rise (±6°), or aggressive negative angles (-17°) for a race-low position on cross-country specials.
• Fork steerer diameter and clamp height: The standard is a 1 1/8" (28.6 mm) fork steerer; also check the stem body height (stack height) to ensure the cut steerer tube length is sufficient.
