Giro Grid Spherical Helmet, Matte Green/Black
Giro Grid Spherical Helmet
The Grid Spherical is the lightest helmet you've ever had on your head. Whether you're ski touring or enjoying an early morning freeride – a lightweight helmet will make your turns more enjoyable in any case. But it's not just about weight. The Grid helmet is equipped with Thermostat Control ventilation adjustment, comfortable quick-drying Polartec lining, and an intuitive Fidlock magnetic buckle under the chin. The unique Spherical Technology Powered by MIPS enhances protection against rotational forces. It works on the principle of a hinge – the helmet shell consists of two hemispheres that move relative to each other like a hinge. In the event of an impact, the outer shell can rotate around the inner shell, thereby reducing the forces that would otherwise act directly on the head and brain. It's like suspension inside the helmet.

MIPS IS MOVEMENT
PROGRESS IN SKI HELMET DEVELOPMENT
All Giro helmets are designed to absorb as much energy as possible during an impact and meet the applicable European standard: EN 1077. The goal of the new MIPS technology is to eliminate rotational forces that act on the head in case of a fall and subsequent impact on the slope. In case of an impact at any angle, the MIPS system allows the EPS shell of the helmet to rotate independently around the head. Although this movement is only a matter of a few millimeters, we believe that MIPS technology significantly reduces the amount of rotational force that would otherwise be transmitted to the brain.
WHAT IS MIPS (Multidirectional Impact Protection System) and how does it work?
MIPS is a low-friction layer between the EPS shell (helmet body) and the inner lining. In the event of an angled impact, the EPS shell of the helmet rotates a few millimeters on the MIPS layer, thus protecting the head and brain from sudden rotational jerking.
