The activation tool is an essential part of the AVABAG avalanche system. The tool is used to set the system to standby mode. It can also be used to check the system's readiness before a tour and to test firings without a cartridge.
Practice dry firings
Canadian avalanche researcher Pascal Haegeli states that 12% of people who carried avalanche systems and were buried died because they could not activate the unit correctly. This led ORTOVOX to the idea of repeatedly testing the system activation without the need for a cartridge. You can therefore practice dry firings and be sure that you will know exactly what to do when the worst happens.
