VIVID technology was developed by Giro in collaboration with the global leader in optics – ZEISS Optics. Standard ski goggles completely block so-called blue light. It was long believed that blue light was bad for vision in snow. But there's a problem: snow isn't white. As the most reflective surface on the planet, snow is actually blue. Our research has shown that blue light is important for correctly seeing and reading snow-covered terrain. VIVID technology allows a portion of blue light to pass through, which increases contrast, while simultaneously blocking harmful UV radiation. VIVID essentially filters out the "glare haze," and your eyes will clearly see the plastic terrain in front of you: bumps, ridges, icy patches, packed or deep snow.
