The Smart HMS from Mammut is a carabiner with a so-called position fixer. The plastic part on the carabiner serves to keep the carabiner in the correct position relative to the harness and belay device during belaying. This is very important and can prevent dangerous situations. The position fixer cannot be closed unless the screw lock is screwed in. It therefore also serves as an indicator of correct carabiner locking during pre-climb checks.|
