Pinarello Grevil F9: A Top-Tier Gravel Frame for Maximum Performance

The Pinarello Grevil F9 is a gravel bike frame that embodies top-tier engineering and the latest in cycling technology. Its goal is to provide riders with maximum speed, stability, and versatility, while taking into account the various terrains they may encounter.



Material and Construction

The frame is made from Torayca CARBON T900 UD carbon fiber. This type of carbon is currently one of the most advanced on the market, developed in collaboration with the Japanese company Toray Industries, a leader in carbon fiber production. Torayca CARBON T900 UD is known for its extreme strength and, at the same time, low weight, which allows for the creation of a frame that is exceptionally stiff yet lightweight. This material provides an excellent stiffness-to-weight ratio, which is crucial for achieving high performance, especially on gravel and other demanding terrains.

One of the most distinctive features of the Grevil F9 frame is its asymmetric construction. This innovative concept was developed to improve power transfer from the pedals to the rear wheel, minimize energy loss, and increase overall riding efficiency. In the asymmetric construction, the right side of the frame, where the drivetrain is located, is designed differently from the left side. This ensures an even distribution of forces and pressure points, thereby reducing the risk of frame deformation during intense sprints or on challenging climbs.



Geometry

The geometry of the Pinarello Grevil F9 is designed to provide an optimal balance between comfort, stability, and speed. The frame has a slightly elongated top tube and a taller head tube, which improves stability and control on gravel and uneven surfaces. Compared to traditional road bikes, the rider's position on the Grevil F9 is slightly more upright, which reduces fatigue during long rides and improves comfort on rough terrain. At the same time, however, the frame is aggressive enough to allow for dynamic acceleration and quick changes of direction, which is essential in technical sections.



Front Fork

The fork is made from the same Torayca T1100 1K carbon fiber as the frame, ensuring consistent performance and stiffness. The fork is designed for use with disc brakes, ensuring reliable braking performance in all conditions, including wet or gravel. The fork also provides ample clearance for wide tires, up to 42mm for 700c wheels and even wider for 650b. This adaptability is key for gravel riding, where different conditions require different tire widths for optimal performance.



Rear Triangle

The rear triangle of the frame is made from Torayca CARBON T900 UD and designed with an emphasis on maximum power transfer and comfort. The asymmetric rear triangle contributes to better force balance during pedaling, while the seatstays and chainstays are arranged to optimize vibration absorption and reduce rider fatigue. This design also ensures compatibility with disc brakes and provides sufficient clearance for wide tires, which is essential for gravel cycling.



Bottom Bracket and Head Tube

The frame's bottom bracket is designed for maximum stiffness, which is critical for efficient power transfer. The Pinarello Grevil F9 uses the BB386 system, which allows for the use of various types of bottom brackets and increases the frame's versatility. The head tube is designed to provide stability at high speeds and precise steering, which is essential when riding on uneven terrain. The stiffness of the head tube is also supported by the use of Torayca T1100 1K carbon, which increases the overall durability and reliability of the frame.



Cable Routing

Internal cable routing in the Grevil F9 frame is not just an aesthetic feature but also a functional solution that reduces air resistance and protects cables from damage and contamination. This system is compatible with both electronic and mechanical groupsets, giving riders a wide range of options when choosing components. The integration of cable routing into the frame is designed to minimize friction and simplify maintenance.
