Effetto Mariposa Caffé Plus tubeless tape, 8 m
Caffélatex tubeless tape.
- replaces the standard rim tape and ensures the airtightness of the standard rim
- with this tape you can achieve the transformation of a standard wheel rim into a tubeless one
- super light
- easy to use
Caffélatex tape is made of polyester instead of the usual PVC material. It is light, thin and highly resistant to damage and pressure. The special adhesive doesn't have the same instant tack as the natural rubber adhesives used on cheaper rims, but it bonds more strongly to the rim over time (which you'll appreciate when taping) and is much more tolerant of temperature and humidity changes and aging.
Caffélatex tubeless tape has earned a reputation as the perfect accessory for lightweight bikes: in size M, it adds just 5.5g to a 29.5" mountain bike!
Warning: carefully clean and degrease the rim before using the tape. It is not recommended to use an alcohol degreaser!
Supplied in widths:
- Plus S (34 mm): for rims with an internal width between 29 and 34 mm;
- Plus M (40 mm): for rims with an inner width between 34 and 40 mm;
- Plus L (45 mm): for rims with an inner width between 40 and 45 mm.
Make a hole for the valve in the tape with a Phillips screwdriver or another round point. Do not use a knife or scissors!
Usage:
1) Stick Caffélatex tubeless tape 2 cm before the valve opening. The tape is flexible but not easily stretchable, so it conforms to surfaces but only marginally changes its length/width when pulled. This is a plus because the stretched tape will tend to move and return to its original size over time, breaking the adhesive bond.
2) During application, keep the Caffélatex tubeless tape taut to stick to the center of the rim channel first to avoid bubbles and wrinkles. Use one layer for MTB wheels (up to 4 bars) and two for ROAD wheels (up to 8 bars). Continue all the way around, always focusing on the center of the rim channel, until you get 2cm through the valve: you get a double (for MTB) or triple (for ROAD) layer through a 4cm valve.
3) If possible, avoid finger contact with the last part of the tape to maximize adhesion to the most exposed segment of the tape
Use a sharp point or a screwdriver to make a hole for the valve. Do not use a paring knife and do not make an "X" cut: this could prevent proper air tightness around the valve.
