Fenix LR40R rechargeable LED light

The ultra-powerful Fenix LR40R rechargeable lamp brings an extreme luminous flux of up to 12,000 lumens (ANSI) and an afterglow of up to 773 meters. It achieves its performance using one powerful Cree XP-L HI LED and eighteen Cree XP-G3 LEDs, which are powered by an internal high-current Li-ion battery with a capacity of 43.2 Wh. The battery is charged directly in the lamp via a modern USB-C connector. The lamp offers control using two buttons, which separately control the wide (11,000 lumens) and long (1,000 lumens) cone of light, while both reflectors can be activated at the same time. In addition, there is also a strobe light and an SOS mode for emergency situations.

In addition, the lamp is equipped with LED indicators that show the state of charge of the battery. The lamp can also be used in an emergency as a POWERBANK and charge other USB devices from it. Despite the enormous power, the lamp retains surprisingly compact dimensions, the length is only 15.4 centimeters and the weight is 698 grams including the battery. This searchlight is suitable, for example, for guarding large areas, official use or search and rescue operations and for all lighting enthusiasts.

All lamp parameters (luminous flux, battery operation time, waterproofing, afterglow and impact resistance) are measured in accordance with the ANSI/NEMA FL 1-2009 standard.

Fenix LR40R lamp parameters:

• The light source is one powerful Cree XP-L HI LED and eighteen Cree XP-G3 LEDs with a lifespan of 50,000 hours of lighting.

• A total of 11 lighting modes:

  • High beam: 1000 lumens (7 hours) -> 350 lumens (22.5 hours) -> 150 lumens (44.5 hours) -> 50 lumens ( 92.25 hours ).

  • Wide cone: 11000 lumens (0.75 hours) -> 6000 lumens (2 hours) -> 3000 lumens (2.83 hours) -> 1000 lumens (7.25 hours) -> 350 lumens (22.75 hours) - > Strobe (3000 lumens) -> SOS (350 lumens).

• For power, it uses a high-current Li-ion battery ARB-L37-12000 with a capacity of 12000 mAh / 3.6 V (43.2 Wh). In an emergency, it can be replaced with 1-4 separate 18650 batteries, but the highest modes will not be available with them.

• Charging via USB-C with support for fast charging protocols QC3.0 and QC2.0. Charging time 3.3 - 12 hours depending on the source used.

• Digitally regulated for constant brightness and with protection against overheating.

• The central long-distance reflector offers an afterglow of up to 640 meters (101960 cd), the wide reflectors illuminate up to 410 meters (41867 cd). When all reflectors are activated, the combined afterglow is up to 773 meters.

• The electronics is equipped with a protective function against too deep battery discharge, when the voltage drops below a certain limit, it automatically switches to a lower power mode.

• The lamp has a memory and can be turned on in the last set mode (does not apply to flash modes).

The use

There may be an insulating cap on the battery from the factory. Remove it before first use.

By holding down the right button for about half a second, the remote cone of light is switched on, by holding down the left button, the wide cone is activated, both cones can also light up at the same time. By briefly pressing the individual buttons, the power modes of the respective reflectors are cyclically switched. The stroboscope is turned on by holding down the left button for at least 1.2 seconds (even when the lamp is off), with another short press it switches to SOS, and with a subsequent press you return to constant lighting. Holding down one of the buttons for half a second turns off the corresponding cone. Holding the right button for 1.2 seconds turns off both cones.

The control buttons can be locked to prevent spontaneous activation, e.g. when transported in luggage - in the switched off state, press both buttons and hold them for at least 3 seconds, then the lamp will flash, indicating locking. To unlock, it is necessary to hold both buttons again for three seconds. Unwanted switching on can also be prevented by enabling the lamp body.

Charging - unfold the rubber cover of the charging connector and plug the cable into the USB-C connector in the lamp. The indicator LEDs will flash from left to right to show the charging status. During charging, only the remote cone can be turned on in the 50 and 150 lumen modes. After charging is complete, seal the connector thoroughly with a rubber cap. For charging, it is possible to use ordinary USB adapters and power banks, as well as an adapter for fast charging with the QC3.0 and QC 2.0 protocols, which will be automatically detected. The charging time varies from 3.3 to 12 hours depending on the power of the source.

Charging external USB devices ( powebank function ) - unfold the rubber cover of the USB connector and connect the device you want to charge with a suitable USB cable. To activate the power bank function, you must briefly press one of the control buttons. After charging starts, the indicator LEDs will flash from right to left to show the battery status. The maximum discharge current is 2A. After charging, do not forget to properly seal the USB connector with a rubber cap.

Battery charge status indication - after a short press of any button, the indicator LEDs light up for 8 seconds and show the battery charge status (the lamp must be turned off). Four lit LEDs mean that the battery is more than 80% charged, three lit 60-80%, two lit 40-60%, one 20-40% and one flashing means the battery is less than 20% charged. The indication is only functional with the original battery.

Intelligent protection against overheating - after exceeding the temperature of 65°C, the lamp will automatically gradually reduce the power in small steps, after cooling down the power will increase again. Operation on the highest modes (12000 and 11000 lumens) is time-limited for 2 minutes, then the lamp will reduce the output to 6000-1000 lumens according to the current temperature, operation on the 6000-lumen mode is time-limited for 5 minutes, then the output will be reduced to 4000-1500 lumens according to the current temperature.

Warning

• Do not disassemble the sealed parts of the lamp yourself, this will void the warranty.

• If the protective rubber rings appear damaged after a long period of use, replace them. The rings must also be lubricated to prevent rubber erosion. By following these rules, the lamp will be properly protected against water.

• If the light flickers, does not switch to higher power modes or does not light up, it may be for one of the following reasons:

  • The battery is dead, charge it.

  • The contacts inside the lamp are dirty - clean them with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol.

  • The body is loose, tighten it.
